SERVICE: Deposition services of BCRC

Deposition services of BCRC

Bioresources deposition services provided by BCRC for NBRC customers.

A. Public Deposition of Bioresources

Transboundary transfer of the bacteria may involve inspection at the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ). BCRC needs to look into the IMPORT requirements after getting those deposit documents.

The following information shall be provided if possible:

  1. Declaration or Statement: the strain is not harmful to plants or animals. (With Letterhead of University, signed)
  2. Journals about this genus (related species), the environment, characteristic, taxonomy, biosafety description, description of interaction between fungi and plants (such as promoting plant growth, symbiosis, plant damage, etc.)….

Therefore, it is very important that you send the material AFTER BCRC gives you a green light.

The public deposition process:

  1. Email the deposit application, strain data table, strain sequence and other documents. Please send the documents to mailto:hyc97@firdi.org.tw
  2. Conduct a deposit review (import permit)
  3. After approval of the review, BCRC will inform the customer to send the strains & application form. (NOTE: It REALLY takes time to get the import requirements from the BAPHIQ.)
  4. Preservation process

*Be sure to keep the strains. If there is any problem during the process, you will be contacted again.

  1. The deposit certificate and the strain confirmation tube will be issued.

The process flowchart for public deposit can be summarized as follow:
